Receptivity, initiative, transdisciplinary thinking and unconventionality are all traits cherished and welcomed by the university. Kassel is a city of cultural wealth and diversity with more than 1000 years of history. 鈥淒ocumenta", an exhibition of contemporary art, takes place every five years in the city. Kassel is also the "Capital of the German Fairy Tale Route". The Grimm Brothers spent the most significant period of their lives here devoted to gathering and consolidating fairy tales and researching German linguistics. Even today there are many sights to visit in Kassel. Magnificent parks, world famous art works, historical monuments and cultural institutions attract millions of visitors every year.
